White Hot Summer: style ideas under $100 that will keep you looking hot while your trying staying cool.

With the 4th of July  just passed us it's the official kick off of summer. As the weather heats up in Southern California  Here's some style tips  under $100 that are sure to get you noticed this season:

White Pants~  From flowy linen to skinny capri's this year more than ever white is everywhere.  A few of my favorite picks are Fresh Laundry $88.00 These are a fold over  wider leg linen pant that is always in style.  Found at nordstrom and speciality retailers. Guess authentic flare $47.50  KUT brand skinny capri's on sale $38.00 nordstrom.  For business or casual you can't go wrong with an investment in white pants.( Shop the summer sales)

Tribal Jewelry~  Keeping in step with the 70's bohemian look tribal jewelry is making a statement from woven bracelets to geometric necklaces and rings these this pieces can make a statement all their own or change the look of an outfit.  You can find some unique pieces sometimes handmade on Etsy for great prices Woven bracelets from $21-$29.00 on Etsy. I found some  tribal bangle bracelets at Forever 21 $10.00.  Feather earrings are especially hot! Urban outfitters from $20.00-$29.00 Charlotte Russe has them for only $6.00!

Funny story: I was visiting some friends in LA over the weekend and my girlfriend whom was just returning from the restroom  comes over by me and says to me in a low voice in my ear as she was returning to her seat "I don't know if you care but Nicole Ritchie is in the bathroom".  Without missing a beat I said "Yes I do care, I love her jewelry and I am going to check it out".  You got it I stalked her to check out her jewelry!  She had great pieces on very bohemian and tribal inspired. Loved.. :) I complimented her on her jewelry as her and her girlfriends talked about some bracelets they had made  custom from a jewelry designer for about $1,000 a piece.  I guess with the price of silver that's not too bad..

Floral prints~  Yes literally.. "Every thing's coming up Roses"  From dresses to skirts and tops a like; florals are everywhere.  Especially in the way of short and flirty skirts that move. Lilly white skirt $32.00  nordstrom. Lucky brand embroidered flower skirt 52.90 Lucky. I have seen a variety of skirts and floral dresses from H&M 12.99-29.99. as well as higher price points.  You can invest as much or as little as your willing in this trend.

Flower Hair Accessories~  Right in line with the bohemian 70'S influence and the royal wedding.  Adding a flower in your hair this summer is fun simple and inexpensive.  I found one for $3.95 at a cute new store in Del Mar called Urban Girl.  You can  also find them online at Etsy anywhere from $6.00 to $20.00

These are just a few summer pieces to keep your looks updated for not a whole lot of cash.  And don't worry ladies if  you don't feel quite a hundred percent wearing white pants..  Your not alone.  I get women asking me all the time about how and if they should wear them.  The answer is yes!!! You just have to find the brand  and style that fits you right.  The great news about white pants you don't have to invest in them every season.. In fact to change the look of an older pair of  white denim  that I've had for a few seasons I had  them taken in slightly in the legs and cropped.  It created a skinnier capri.  This updated look allowed me to not have to go through the daunting task of finding  "a"white that fits right.

Stay tuned next week for more style tips and tricks.   Guys I'll have some  tips for you too!  If you need any personal styling tips or wardrobe consulting feel free to contact me: cyndiolin@yahoo.com

As always  Ciao for now and Happy Shopping!!

  • Try on everything in your closet for the new season.  Coordinate classic looks with trendy pieces you have. The styles over the last few seasons haven't changed that much
  • Where styles that reveal your silhouette.  Wear color!  Any bright colors are great for spring and make you feel good.
  • Accessorize!  You can change the entire look of  an outfit by adding a scarf or jewelry.
  • The best accessory of all is confidence. Truly it doesn't make a difference what you wear.
I have several pieces in my closet that are back in this season.  from flowered embroidered  Spanish inspired tops to maxi dresses which are trending big this season!

Two easy wardrobe updates you may already have;

Ladies Spring style 2011 and the top 3 must have's

A Happy New year!  Ive missed you all as I have not been up to date on blogs.  Not to worry I'll make up for it by talking about the spring style you have to look forward too. first I'll share a post I saw at the beginning of this year.   Dear God,  Please bless me this year abundantly with a large bank  account and a small butt. Not like this past year when you blessed me with the opposite. Amen to that!

As you may have guessed 70's inspired clothing is all over the runways for spring 2011.  Colors like Orange, yellow and mint green are the spring color must haves  along with neutrals.  These looks seem so natural to Southern California.  It as though these styles encompass the vibe of Southern California beach cities on any given day.  Almost as if we coined this look.  Isn't there a song about wishing we could all be California Girls?
On to what inspires me in this come back of 70's inspired looks.  One of my favorite style icons of the 70's is Priscilla Presley.  She has always looked flawless  and beautiful with her style.   So well put together her style timeless with a hint of whatever is in fashion.  Like these sunglasses she wore (pictured above) I was always envious of how she could carry off that any look or any hair color.  Some of you are aware of my fascination with Elvis whom absolutely had a style all his own.  Maybe one of the things I admire about him.

Top 3 Must Haves for spring fashion 2011

  • You guessed it 70's inspired bell bottoms and higher waist flare denim are a must!  Brands such as Genetic pictured above in light vintage wash with dark pockets $209, JBrand  $185, if that's a little steep then lucky brand charlie flare $99 in dark and lighter wash as well as Gap has come out with a bell bottom for 79.50.  The key is to find that fit that is most flattering on you.  As well the flare needs to be draped over a shoe not a stiletto.  A chunkier shoe such as a wedge tends to look best.  Also wear tucked in blouses or shirts it will flatter this look more.  I have found on most all body types that flares and bell bottoms alike create a slimming and long look.
  • You know I'm going to say Wedges.  Pictured above is a Steve Madden 80.00.  Also some of my favorite websites with designer shoes starting at 29.99  I even found orange and yellow two of this seasons hottest colors.  6pm.com is my top pick for great shoe deals..
  • Vintage jewels!!  Statement necklaces with a 70's flare as well as vintage baubles can be found everywhere you look right now.  I found these pieces pictured at jewelrymodcloth.com. Many pieces running from 7.99 TO 39.99.  Not bad for some costume pieces for a little spring update.
That's all I've got this time!  Stay tuned next week for men"s style tips for spring 2011.  And spring cleaning how to shop your closet.

Ciao for now!  As always happy shopping!
